My opinion is, step on the accelerator slightly first. The car being heavy needs the proper power to enable it to move. This will prevent it from stalling easily.

dear mr.yap,
i wil go for my pra test nxt week.

im confuse on a thing,

when we are in gear 1 and going to move our car, do v have to let go the clutch slowly up then followed by pressing the oil ? or do v hv to press the oil first then followed by lettting go the clutch slowly up bit by bit so that the car can go.

i ask this cos different instructor giving me different instructions. so which is the best way and what is the pro n contra using either way.

if i press oil 1st then let go clutch slowly , normally the car will jugged. n if i let go clutch first then press oil normally the car might "mati engin",

pls comment sir,

At times, T-junctions are uneven. It might slope backwards. Drivers are advised to pull up hand brakes at junctions. Engaging handbrakes prevents the car moving forward if you are hit violently from the back!

In the above situation, your car will not lunge forward to hit the car in front of you. If you should hit the car in front, you'll be at fault.

Can I know why do you need to pull up the handbrake when you're stopping at the T-junction? Can I just step on the brake pedal without pulling the handbrake?

At point of changing gears, hold the steering steadily with your right hand. Then quickly change gears with your left hand. Try keeping the steering steady in the process.

Hi,

I'm learning driving soon and I agreed with what you said about driving the car with two hands. This question may sound shallow but how are you going to change the gear when you keep driving with two hands just because driving with one hand will fail you in the test?

In practical test, students must show they can drive up to gear 4. You seem a bit weak in driving. Seek your instructor's help.

Why is it that the people I know who have failed their computer undang test share a common mark of 41. Is this purely coincidental?
