To me, now in my sixties, driving is now what youngsters call an Extreme Sport where you can get hurt very badly or fatally if you do not exercise enough care of yourself and your equipment. I would like to read Cikgu Yap’s comments on the recent North-South Highway at Parit Buntar where a White Toyota Alphard slammed into the back of a Black Toyota Estima, parked there to answer a call on the handphone and killing both passengers at the back. These were the father and daughter of the driver. The most important question is the usage of the Emergency lane on the highway. Can Cikgu enlighten us on the reasons for the emergency lane, how to use, and also what is being taught in driving lessons on this lane. Your comments will be greatly appreciated. TQ

Ethically, the motorist who has been given medical treatment and RM100 as compensation should not be asking more 2 days later. Unless your friend is ready to pay the further RM300 asked for by the motorcyclist, ignore his demands. Tell the motorcyclist that you’ll make a police report at the nearest police station should he continue to trouble you.

They agreed to settle the matter. My friend took the motorcyclist to a nearby clinic and paid another 100 ringgit to the motorcyclist. Two days later the motorcyclist called my friend and demanded another 300 ringgit. What should my friend do ?
