7 Things Driving Institutes Do In Malaysia

Some Of The Things Driving Institutes Do

1) Renewing license and road tax.

Amongst other things, driving institutes do renew licenses and road tax. People do sometimes come in for the above services.

The institutes act as a “runner” charging a few Ringgit for the services rendered.

2) Conducting K.P.P. (Kursus Pendidikan Pemandu).

The above is a 5 hour lecture. Candidates have to attend it prior to sitting for the Highway Code test.

3) Conducting the 6 hour theory course.

The above course is a 6 hour theory course after a student passes the Highway Code test. 3 hour theory is done in the class. The other 3 hour Practical lesson is done in the perimeters of the institute itself.

Basic techniques of driving is amongst other things a student is taught.

4) Pra Ujian or Q.T.I. (Quality Test at the Institute).

The pra-ujian or Q.T.I. is compulsory internal exam or test conducted by the institute’s own testers prior to J.P.J. testing the students.

Students who are assessed and found to be below the necessary standard are normally failed. They will then have to undergo further tuition.

The pra ujian or Q.T.I. is conducted for the various categories of licenses offered as B2 (motor 250 c.c. and below), B Full (super – 501 c.c. and above), E (lorry) and H (tractor).

5) Conducting G.D.L. (Good Driver’s License).

Courses for Good Driver’s License or G.D.L. are also conducted from time to time. Normally it takes roughly 2 days to conduct the above course.

The course ends with a computer test conducted by officials for the Transport Department.

6) Weekly practical test for Part 1, 2 and 3.

All practical tests are conducted at this institute’s ground itself. Officials of the Road Transport Department nowadays do the above tests at the institute every week. Some 150 – 250 students, depending on the institutes, do their practical test every week.

7) Providing practical lessons for driving cars, lorries, tractor and motorcycles.

Practical lessons for all the above vehicles are done daily at the institute’s grounds, except during “test” day, where all driving lessons are all cancelled to cater especially for test proceedings.

Tests are divided into sessions beginning from 8:30am in the morning to 5 or 6 in the evening.

As mentioned earlier, all tests are conducted by officials from the Road Transport Department itself.

With this rather detailed explanation regarding some of the activities conducted at a driving institute, readers and the public alike should now have a clearer picture of what the driving institute does.

It must be informed however, each institute’s activities differ from one to another. Basically, most of the activities remain the same.

      Dear Khamis Seif,

Prices differ from place to place and from instructor to instructor. Go to the institutes preferably. It is cheaper.

A 10 lessons course inclusive of all the courses, QTI test and practical test (Class D) plus D license can come to about RM1000 – RM1200.
