first of all, not only your blog is educational , it is also very interesting. i find myself learning as i read on your blog. As a driving instructor, you must have your fair share 'experiences' with your students.

Kudos to you.

ps: I have a question. how do i apply for a school bus permit to operate the business. many thanks

Attend 6 hour theory course for B2. It takes approx 10 - 15 days to take out the "L". Some can do it faster. Yes, you need waif for 1 month before testing.

Your car license does not allow you to ride motorcycles. You will have to secure a Malaysian motorcycle license. The B2 class for below 250cc.

Dear Sir, I have a full UK license for driving a car. On the basis of that, am I entitled to ride a low-powered motorbike in Malaysia?
Thanks in anticipation...

For your info, all driving school cars have 2 brake system. When I started as a driving instructor more than 40 years ago, we already had 2 brakes in our cars. Generally, the driving school is under strict control by the Malaysian Road Transport Department. All cars used for instruction have to undergo inspection every 6 months by a privately owned entity, Puspakom.

All instructors have teaching certificates, the S.M.2. Further, all cars used for driving instruction are covered by insurance.

Dear Cikgu Yap
I came across your site/blog when searching for information on driving schools in Malaysia.

I am a dual control manufacturer in The Netherlands. My company is invited to join a trade Mission
to your country. The mission is organized by F.M.M. (federation of Malaysian Manufacturers).
I was wondering if you could tell me what the situation is on Driving schools in your country.

Do the cars have dual controls, I think they do, but if you travel to different country's as I do you
wont find the question so strange.

If you could give me a general info on driving schools and driving teaching I would appreciate it
Preferably by direct email, if possible not trough your blog. Although that's up to you.

Maybe we can meet if I come to Malaysia.

Best Regards
G. Tierolf

JPJ office for Selangor is in Padang Jawa, Klang. That's where the Director is.

Part II and III of the practical test is held on the same day. If you opt to follow your instructor's advice, suit yourself.

Best to you!

I am a Malaysian but have lived and worked overseas for years. I was told by my driving school to write a letter to request for an early test for part two and three. Can this test be done in a day or are they held on two separate days? Am currently putting up in Month Kiara. Could you advise on the nearest JPJ office? It is hard for me to understand the bahasa verse as I am not good at it.
