As no police report was made, just ignore the demands.

When we stopped at the side, i noticed that his car bumper already had previous dents, scratches and etc. but this guy opened his boot can tries to slam it close and it couldnt.

But later I found that the handle/button thing was faulty (had to push and pull it before shutting to shut the boot). if the boot couldnt close at all, i would say that it was my fault, but it could close. The guy was rather rude when I said, it was a slight knock and wouldnt affect the lock since i knocked the bumper and the bumper looked fine . we then exchanged numbers and left the place.

An hour after that, he called saying he wants RM1k for the repair cost and cuts it down to RM500 as he felt pity for me. I was rather unhappy because I dont think the knock caused the lock to be faulty and told him to check with the workshop before opening a price. What should I do and what happens if I dont pay him for the damage?
