Posted on November 4th, 2011

Continental cars in Malaysia today may not be as popular as Japanese models but nevertheless, it does command a rather major slice of the motoring market in Malaysia.

In one of its recent advertisement, “Ford” reiterates it is set to reclaim its former position as one of the leading car brands in Malaysia. Its agents here, Sime Darby Auto Connexion promises to deliver to the Malaysian public, vehicles which will offer the latest, industry leading and smart technologies especially in the arena of entertainment, convenience, design and engineering.

As a 15 years old lad way back in the 1960’s, I still remember vividly the tremendous impact the Ford “Capri” 1300c.c. and 1600c.c. had on the folks of Klang, when the above 2 doors, sleek sports car made its entrance into this royal town of Selangor. Beautiful and long legged models were perched on the bonnet of the above popular car as it made its appearance into the town, some 60 years ago.

One of my close colleague, Mr. B.S. Wong, once owned a Capri 1600c.c. model. He surely must have been the envy of many Ford enthusiasts in those days. Likewise, yet another friend of mine, an Encik Abdul Rashid, who hails from Taman Goodwood, Klang, used to own another Ford Escort 1.3 way back in the 1960’s. Another satisfied owner of the above model was a Mr. Wee E.T., who also hails from Taman Goodwood, Klang.

For readers’ information, my own personal friend and mechanic, Mr. Lum Wai Keng, 45, or “Ah Keng”, until this day, still owns a red Capri 1600 at his workshop.

The above examples of Ford cars and its owners are just to demonstrate to readers how popular Ford cars were way back in the 1960’s and early 1970’s.

Talking about Ford cars, the public should be reminded that Messrs Goh Toh Lai are the franchised agents of Ford cars in the Klang district. Ford’s new range of cars in Malaysia today include the Ford Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo models. The above models are reputed to include many modern day features to provide owners maximum driving pleasure and enjoyment.

Entertainment As You Drive

Most vehicles these days come with radio and CD gadgets. Ford’s latest model, the “Fiesta” comes with innovative console technologies in the like of Bluetooth with voice control. It is said that the above system connects drivers wirelessly to one’s mobile phone. It also uses one’s voice to both make and receive calls.

Besides that, a driver can also change the radio station or CD track, all without taking your hands off the steering wheel. How’s that for safety, you might be tempted to ask?

Convenient Gadgets

Very recently, Ford has introduced quite a number of gadgets in its cars for the driving pleasure of drivers. It also attempts to make the task of driving as effortless as possible. One innovative introduction which is fast becoming a standard requisite of Ford cars is the “Easy Fuel Capless Fuel Filler System”. The above system makes it unnecessary to remove the screw cap of fuel tanks as in conventional models.

One other feature which adds to enhancing a driver’s experience include the “auto-dimming rear view mirror”. Ford’s latest line of models includes “auto on/off headlamps”. On top of that, Ford cars are said to possess ‘rain sensing wipers”.

These gadgets are to be found in Ford’s latest Ford Focus. Its wipers are said to be capable of automatically adjusting its wiper speeds in tandem with weather conditions.

Ford’s Fiesta, Focus and Mondeo models also uses the latest technology called the “Follow Me Home” lighting system in its cars. Ford’s latest cars not only gets you home safe and sound, but its cars of today, its headlights stay on for a few seconds after you reach home, illuminating the pathway to enable you to see where you are going. Such technology goes a long way in ensuring the safety of its drivers.

Latest Designs

Ford’s award winning gadgets and designs not only ensure Ford cars are great looking automobiles, but at the same time goes on to provide drivers with maximum performance besides being functionable as well.

Besides the above, Ford cars are said to employ the “kinetic design concept” on its latest models. Through the above concept, Ford cars look as if they are in motion inspite of the fact that they are in reality not moving at all.

Finally, Ford cars demonstrate the innovative underseat storage capability in its interior. All the above go towards meeting the customer’s needs.

Latest Engineering Techniques

Ford’s latest model of cars exhibit the new “powershift” six speed automatic transmission. It’s available, it is said in its Fiesta and Focus models. The “powershift” system in reputed to provide excellent performance and the fuel economy of a manual car besides providing the convenience of an automatic.

With six forward gears, the engine is capable of running at lower rpms to provide better fuel economy resulting in less wear and tear eventually. Its technologically advanced transmission is normally available only in larger, more expensive vehicles. I am sad to note you are facing some problems with your Ford Fiesta. Sorry, nothing much I can do except to appeal to Ford agents in Malaysia to rapidly attend to your problem. As such, if there exists any Ford executive reading this, hopefully they can assist you.

Don’t worry you won’t hear nothing but that they are sorry, hope you have a nice day. That is what you will hear. They could care less if you have a complaint. When you call them before you get to talk to someone there is a recording saying that you are being recorded and a survey after your call, but if they don’t like what you are saying and know that you are unhappy , for some reason there is no survey to answer, isn’t that odd.

It’s sad. But what you said is the truth.
