Driving School Petaling Jaya – Driving Instructor In P.J. Area

Posted on January 4th, 2011

Are you looking for a driving school or driving instructor in Petaling Jaya (P.J.) town, Selangor area? If you are looking for car driving lessons in Petaling Jaya, we may be able to assist you.

Do you know Petaling Jaya was originally designed and developed as a satellite township for Kuala Lumpur? I didn’t know that until I decided to dig up some history on this unique township. P.J. is actually quite large, it covers a total of more than 97 square kilometers.

Back in 1952, Petaling Jaya was envisioned by the British to solve the over population of Kuala Lumpur (K.L.). Back then, everyone from the outskirts of Malaysia were heading to KL to search for opportunity which lead to overcrowding. In order meet the housing demand, Effingham Estate, a 486 hectares piece of land was developed with the first 800 houses centered around an area currently known as P.J. Old Town.

Petaling Jaya is a big town, locating a good car driving instructor or driving school can be a challenge. You may need a driving instructor which is experience, calm and patient. You may be looking for a driving teacher who can communicate well in English. Whatever your needs may be, we can help.

If you require the services of an English speaking driving instructor in P.J., please send us an email. Please include your Name, Contact Number & Location and our driving tutor will contact you. Send your email to:

I got this friend from china and she would like to take car license test in Malaysia.
She married to Malaysia few years ago but she is unable to understand English and Malay.
So is there any other method for person like her to get Malaysia driving license? thanks.

    • Cikgu Yap

She must be able to to Highway Code in either English or Bahasa Malaysia to get a Malaysian license.

    Hi,

I am a Malaysian living in Ireland. I am planning to come to Malaysia for a month holiday next month. I have a Malaysian Driving Licence which has expired 2yrs now and i also intend to apply for an International Licence. My question is will there be any penalty to renew it and how soon can i apply for the International License? Thank you.

    • Cikgu Yap

It CDL expired 2 years, it can still be renewed. If “P”, it has become null and void. You will need to retest.

    Dear Yap ,

I am a lady from Sri Lanka & started taking my driving lessons in Oct.2010. Since I am working I am unable to go regularly instated only on Sundays I can go. My learners give half an hour driving lesson per day. So far I have gone 10 days (5 hrs) still I am not good in driving.

Unfortunately my first instructor was not good he just say do this & that & like robot I did what he said & had no idea what is all about. There were many complains regarding this instructor so they terminated his service. Now there is another instructor who is far better than the previous one.

Since I have already gone 10 days he is not willing to teach the fist lessons. But he noticed I am lacking these skills & briefly instructed. My trial is on 12th March. I have gone through your site & then only I learnt the basics. Can you please tell me step by step following?

    1. How to start
For my understanding it should be
    1. Adjust seat
    2. Adjust mirrors
    3. Gear neutral
    4. Start the car
    5. Hold clutch then 1st gear
    6. Release hand brakes
    7. Slowly relapse clutch & accelerate

Is this correct? Do we need to hold brakes at 6th point?

    2. How to stop
    Are these steps correct?
    1. Reduce speed
    2. Go to lowe3 gear 1st or 2nd (is it 1st only?)
    3. Hold clutch
    4. hold brakes
    5. release clutch holding brakes
    6. Hand brakes
    7. Switch off the engine.
    8. When we should neutral the Gears?

    3. Stop at Color lights
    1. Reduce speed either to 1st or 2nd
    2. Hold clutch
    3. Hold brakes
    4. When green light appear release clutch & brakes (is it first we have to remove brakes??)

    4. Roundabouts
    1. Reduce speed
    2. Hold clutch
    3. Apply brakes
    4. Release clutch slowly?? Then accelerator?
    5. Steering wheel control

Why need to turn 360 degrees some time. Not very clear about this

    6. Clutch balance & control
    Not good. Any advice?

Sorry for the long mail. But believe if you can give me the required details step by step so that I can brush up my knowledge & be ready by 12th.

Thank you so much & appreciate the way you are sharing knowledge in your site. It is very useful & easy to understand.

    Best regards
    Niranda

I attended my first theory course a few months back. I registered at a school near my home and was asked to return on a sunday morning and was brought to the drivers learning centre in PJ. It was at this centre where i had to go through the 5 hour lecture. And i had a few questions about the way things were run at this place.

The class was over packed. I’d say at least 100 people of all ages were packed in this classroom. Is this normal? Is there no limit the number of students a class should hold at any one time. Its general knowledge that an instructor or teacher would only be able to effective teach and monitor about 20 to 35 students at anyone time. This being a private school one would expect smaller classes for the amount of money we are paying.

My second question is regarding the instructor. I found it really odd that one of the first things the instructor did after introducing himself is write down his name and mobile number on the board and kept reminding students throughout the session that if they had any ‘problems’ with the test or passing their exams to give him a call any time. Is this common practice in other schools and classes?

The third issue i’d like to raise is regarding the syllabus. Upon registering at my local school they gave me 2 books and was asked to bring these to books for the theory class. It would have been great if the instructor actually used the books. Instead he merely skimmed through and asked us to tick the questions he was sure would be in the test. doing my revisions now i realize that none of the important parts were discussed or elaborated on. The instructor was more interested in showing us silly youtube videos. It seemed pretty obvious that this instructor didn’t have any fixed syllabus to cover. Are these driving instructor’s performances monitored at all? This could pretty well be the main reason why we have so many bad drivers on our roads.

i really look forward to hearing yours and your readers views on this issue. Surely other people have experienced similar issues like this.

hi, as far as i kow the max no of students for kpp 5 hours lecture should be 50 and not more than that.

regarding your instructor writing down his name and number…it’s kinda strange because the place where i went for driving lesson never really had that kind of practice…

but one thing i notice about driving school business….bribery is common thing there…
honestly, i find it’s disappointing because it’s not easy for some people to get the license as we have to pay a lot for the lesson and all the of fees. but some people just took the easier way which is through bribes to get the license. it’s a dirty trick but yeah it does happen.

your third issue…it’s true that some instructors didn’t take the syllabus seriously because you know their job is to get you passed, that’s all. either you revise the syllabus on your own or not, it’s not their business. it’s something like…you are the one who want to drive, so you do your own work. their job is to convey the message and then receive money for the job. well, not all instructors are like that but most of them take it for granted. it’s understandable though.

The institutes you refer to has not adhered to regulations. Ethically, a professional lecturer does not provide his personal phone number to his class. Lecturers for the KPP course follow a set of syllabus as required by JPJ. I cannot comment further on other aspects raised by you.

    Hi
if CDL expired 5 years,do I need to do a retest ? If retest is needed, does it included Highway Code, and 6 hours theory course or just the parking, three point turns, and on the road?

    • Cikgu Yap

Yes, you have to do retest. Contact JPJ Putrajaya for retest procedure.

My son recently got his “P” license and I have driven out a few time with him in an auto Myvi. He seems to be able to cope but I am worried to let him drive on his own, since he is still a very inexperience driver. Currently he is attending Taylor’s Uni in Subang and I want him to be able to drive to school cos we stay in TTDI, KL and there is no direct public transport there.

Does you driving school provide refresher course to teach new drivers defensive driving, driving at night, driving when raining, overtake, etc and so forth.

If you have a good instructor, please recommend to me. Thank you.

    Regards,

    Linda

Hi Cikgu Yap. My 2 god children (they are twins) are coming back from Australia for holidays during year end. They would like to learn and get their driving license here. Can you recommend a good instructor? We don’t want them to pick up bad habits from the instructor as they will also be getting their Australian lessons and license as well. They are very stringent over there on the driving test. They are still holding Malaysian pasports and MyKad.

    • Cikgu Yap

Thanks for your inquiry. I’ll contact you through your email.
